How to determine the screen you need
To ensure that you order a compatible display, you should adhere to the type of the original one. There are several compatibility criteria:
- A touchscreen display cannot be replaced with a standard non-touch one;
- The resolution must be the same or lower;
- The interface (LVDS/eDP) must be the same;
- Display types (OLED/LED/CCFL) are not interchangeable;
- The connector must match in pin count and size (pitch);
- The refresh rate, which determines the type of connector;
- Connector position;
- The size of the controller board.
An upgrade is sometimes possible, and we can advise you on that. Upgrading from a Full HD TN to a Full HD IPS display is always possible and highly recommended. In most cases, displays with an eDP interface can be upgraded from HD Ready or HD++ to Full HD. Replacing a 120Hz display with a 144Hz one is also almost always possible.
Method 1: Identification by Serial Number
For Dell, HP, and Lenovo laptops, it is easiest to send us the serial number (S/N) or Service Tag/Express Service Code, and we will reply via email with information about the original display and potential replacements. The following form appears on the pages for these brands of laptops, through which you can send us your query:
Please note that models like 15-ek1023tx or IdeaPad 3 15ITL05 are not serial numbers and cannot provide information.
How to find the serial numbers? See for different brands:

- Lenovo (S/N or MTM number): https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht510152-how-to-find-serial-numbers-pc
Method 2: By Device ID (EDID)
The diagram below shows how to find the Device ID in MS Windows -> Device Manager. This is possible if the display works at least partially or if the laptop is connected to an external monitor. In the latter case, two monitors with different Device IDs will appear in the Device Manager - one for the internal and one for the external display. Search our site for both or send them to us via contact form or chat.
In the specific example, the Device ID is CPT14C7, which corresponds to model CLAA156WB11A:
